Lesvos is known in bird-watching circles as one of the best locations in Europe to observe migrating birds. For people interested in birdwatching the best place for observation is Sigri.

Irania gutturalis
Ιrania gutturalis, a special kind of nightingale that lives only in Lesvos.
A special kind of nightingale who lives and
reproduced only in Lesvos when returning from East Africa where expatriates are White-nightingale Irania gutturalis.
It is a shy bird, which nests in dense bushes and sing hidden. Has a length of 12-14 cm is elegant with a long neck and legs, long and powerful beak and long black or dark gray tail that is
often raised.

This is the first year with more than one record and only the fourth, fifth and sixth records for Lesvos.

This is only the fifth confirmed record for Lesvos.
